A field trip built for curious hands
Give your class a day away from their desks that still feels like play. At Kaleidoscoppe, students spend 2.5 hours in our 6,000 sq. ft. indoor centre building with LEGO®, Duplo®, Magna-Tiles® and more — open-ended, hands-on, and guided by our team the whole way through. Every program is curriculum-friendly by design, built specifically for schools and mapped to Ontario curriculum expectations.
What makes a Kaleidoscoppe visit different
We're not a hall you rent for the afternoon — we're a working play-and-learning space in Barrie, and field trips are planned specifically for schools, not adapted from something else.
There isn't a single pre-set "toy" anywhere at Kaleidoscoppe. Every surface in our 6,000 sq. ft. centre is dedicated to open-ended, creative building — LEGO®, Duplo®, Magna-Tiles®, and building sets students won't have seen anywhere else.
Every class is led by a trained program coordinator who moves through the room the entire visit, showing new techniques, asking questions, and helping students push their builds further — not just supervising, but actively teaching.

Three programs to choose from
Every visit is built from the same five hands-on classes — STEM & Building, Science, Mental Math, Art and Physical Activity (optional, at your school's discretion) — with the theme, depth and guidance adjusted to match your students' grade.
Little Builders
Theme: Towers, Trains & TownsDesigned for our youngest visitors: shorter blocks, bigger pieces, and a soft landing for a student's very first field trip.
Big Duplo® and giant blocks — building towers, trains and mini towns together.
Sensory-friendly experiments — sink or float, colour mixing, cause-and-effect.
Counting games, shape sorting and simple patterning through play.
Open-ended creative art connected to today's building theme.
Can be swapped for StoryTales storytelling — ask at booking.
Free or guided play on our indoor play structure — included at your school's discretion.
Young Engineers
Theme: Amusement Park ArchitectsBuilt around real engineering thinking: students plan, build, test and rebuild — practicing the design process, not just following instructions.
LEGO® and Magna-Tiles® engineering challenge — designing a moving amusement park ride.
Hands-on experiment exploring forces and motion, matched to their grade's curriculum unit.
Fast-paced number games and mental math challenges scaled to grade level.
Design-based art connected to their build — sketching and decorating their ride.
Guided play on our indoor play structure — included at your school's discretion.
Master Builders
Theme: Survive the ShakeOur most technical program: students take on a real structural-engineering brief, working in teams to plan, build and defend a design decision.
Advanced structural engineering challenge — designing a tower or bridge to survive a stress test.
Deeper experiment on forces and structures, connected to their grade's science unit.
Competitive mental math challenges — multiplication, fractions and number games.
Technical design sketching connected to their engineering brief.
Team challenge on our indoor play structure — included at your school's discretion.

Field trip FAQs
What ages are Kaleidoscoppe field trips designed for?
Our field trips welcome students from JK through Grade 5. Our team adjusts the classes and level of guidance for each age group, from Little Builders (JK–1) to Master Builders (Grades 4–5).
Are Kaleidoscoppe field trips aligned with curriculum standards?
Yes — every program is mapped to Ontario curriculum expectations in Science & Technology, Mathematics, the Arts and Social-Emotional Learning. We include a free curriculum-alignment sheet with every booking.
What's included in the field trip price?
Every visit includes four core classes — STEM & Building, Science, Mental Math and Art — led by our trained staff for the full 2.5-hour visit. Physical Activity on the play structure can be added too, entirely at your school's discretion.
Is StoryTales available for older grades too?
StoryTales is designed specifically for JK and Kindergarten early literacy. For Little Builders bookings, it can be swapped in for the Art Class — just mention it on your request form.
Can we add a snack instead of a full lunch?
Yes — "+ Snack" is one of our three standard visit options, at a lower add-on cost than a full lunch. Select it on your request form, or see current café options at kaleidoscoppe.com.
How far in advance do we need to book?
We ask for at least 2 weeks' notice to confirm your date and prepare for your group size. Popular fall and spring dates fill up quickly, so we recommend booking early.
Do you offer group discounts?
Yes — our per-student rate drops automatically for larger groups. See the Group Pricing table above, or contact us for a custom quote for very large grades.
